ROC Helps Families Build A Solid Foundation For Sobriety
Addiction is a family disease. Malvern understands that the disease of addiction has no limitations and impacts everyone involved, not just the person struggling with dependency. Whether it is a husband, wife, child, friend, family member, or colleague, our goal is to improve his or her understanding of the disease of addiction and provide support services for both the addicted loved one and family members as they embark on their journey of lifelong recovery.
Family and friends of loved ones can have their own recovery process.
Malvern Treatment Centers designed the Recovery Oriented Community (ROC), an ongoing network of support for the recovering individual and their family during recovery. ROC is an invitation to that process and facilitator supported meetings are a vehicle for change. ROC offers a two-pronged approach designed to support the patient and the families, including specific, personal resources focused on helping families navigate their own recovery. Upon admission to treatment, families have a unique opportunity to become members of the ROC community. ROC empowers families to develop healthy boundaries, identify recovery next-steps, and connect with other resources tailored to meet each family’s unique needs.
Members come to recognize and participate in their own process of change... with the help of our group. ROC meetings support members in developing healthy boundaries, and identifying their own enabling behaviors. We have a voluntary ROC phone list that support members in staying connected. We have in person events that include symposiums(educational), in person gatherings, a Friendsgiving in the Fall and online speakers once a month. ROC members are invited to different events during the year as well as an annual Gratitude meeting in the winter at a few of our Treatment facilities.
ROC helps families get and stay connected with other families through recovery-oriented resources and weekly Family Support Meetings, facilitated by ROC family members.
