The Importance of a Positive Attitude During Recovery

Negativity fuels the disease of addiction. In early recovery addicts can dwell on the negatives in their life; what addiction has lead them to and everything addiction has taken away from them. In many cases the most difficult transition for addicts during recovery is not the physical withdraw but instead the emotional adjustment in their attitudes. At the same time a key factor in achieving life long recovery is that very adjustment.

Cultivating positivity is a process, like recovery itself. Small steps can be taken everyday. An easy way to build positivity (whether or not you’re in recovery) is to consciously track the positive things in your life. Every day write down something you are grateful for. The list may start out small and seem insignificant but over time those small notes will build a hopeful outlook.

Talking about a positive attitude and buildling a positive attitude are two very different things. Join us December 6th at our Main Line location as renowned addiction lecturer, Vince DiPasquale guides us through the steps to building a positive attitude. Learn how to do a positive inventory of self, take personal responsibilty and build your self esteem.
