Malvern Has Talent! in Photography

Want to know the coolest part about getting sober? It’s not getting the trust of your family back (although make no mistake – that’s pretty amazing). It’s not being accountable and gaining life responsibilities.

It’s the ability to follow and develop your passions into a unique contribution to the world.

Think about AA, NA, CA, and the many other twelve-step programs. What’s something they all have in common? They stress the importance of giving back. They make it clear that to be successful in both recovery and life – we need to start giving rather than taking.

Following Your Heart & Passion

All philosophical thoughts about sobriety, the meaning of life, and being a good person aside – let’s talk about following your passion. Here at Malvern, we believe nothing’s more important.

Your job is how you support your family. Your family are the people you love (and probably like). Your friends are the people you like (and probably love).

Your dreams and passions? Those are your unique gift to the world. They’re how we transcend the short time we have on Earth and become immortal.

A friend of Malvern’s once put it like this – your talent and passion is God’s gift to you…but how you use that talent? That’s your gift to God.

That’s not only a great quotes, it’s a mantra and philosophy for living life. It’s something that, to our surprise and delight, one of our employees has taken to heart!

An Amateur Photographer With an Expert Eye

Enter Cory Shapiro. Not only is he a certified accounting rockstar (he works in our billing department and is one hell of an employee), but he’s also a talented photographer.

The pictures scattered throughout this post? All Cory originals! Check out his Flickr for some more intimate and compelling shots of Philly and the surrounding areas.

A fairly recent convert to the world of photography, Cory discovered his passion and talent a few years ago. He began to dabble in the art of capturing emotion on film with basic cameras. After some success, he moved up to professional cameras and really got involved.

“I try to illustrate the world as I see it, capturing light at crazy angles,” he said. When we asked him about the surreal nature of some of his photos, he told us that “life itself is a roller coaster ride full of surprises.”

It seems like Cory has a way with images and words!

Check out his Flickr today and keep an eye out for Cory in professional magazines. We’re convinced he’s the next big thing and we couldn’t be prouder of him! Rock on, Cory!
